These antique gargoyle statues measure 12 and one half inches tall and are 6 inches wide and measure 5 and one half inches deep. Each weighs approximately 40 lbs. They retain most of their original paint but do have some areas that were repainted. His family settled in Israel in 1951 where he continued his craft. His father was a goldsmith and he supported Oded's talent. L'Amour au Papillon is signed and dated 1864 on the back at the base. The artist Joseph Charles de Blezer was born in Ghent, Belgium. He attended the esteemed Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, France, studying under the renowned sculptor Jean Baptiste Clesinger.
